Now, before you get the wrong idea, this is a copy of the Sacramento SPCA webpage where I first saw Zoe. She is NOT currently available. :) At the time, I didn't want another dog, but was looking around and saw her picture and thought that her face looked like Melody's. I sent the link to my partner Jeff on a Tuesday with "Not wanting to get another dog, but take a look - doesn't this look like Melody."

Now I got sick that week and stayed home on Thursday and Friday. I didn't know, but Friday night, Jeff went to the SPCA and met Zoe. It must have been fate. The Sac SPCA has a policy that if you see a dog you want, you have to make an appointment the next day to take the dog home. That way, there are no impulse decisions I guess. Plus when you come back, you need to bring any other family members, and any other pets you have, to make sure there isn't any problems/conflict. Well, someone had seen Zoe Thursday night and were supposed to take her home Friday afternoon. If Jeff had gone earlier, he would have seen a "I'm waiting to go home" sign. In fact, we were told this was the third time she had been chosen and the people never showed. She had been there for 6 weeks - and even been featured on TV (they show one dog a week on a local news story).

I met her and fell in love - and she got along with Melody and Ballad (two sisters we had gotten a year prior). She is a wonderful little girl, and the only conflict is when she and Melody both try to compete to see who can get my attention more.

When Jeff and I split, he kept Ballad while I have Melody and Zoe. Though it meant splitting the sisters, Ballad has always been the alpha dog and is very independent (just needs someone to throw her ball - she is obsessed with playing ball). Zoe and Melody both get along and need another dog around... and they're my little girls :)

Description: Polite and gentle Zoe is a nice gal to have around. She's a smart dog who already knows sit, down and shake. She walks well on a leash and she likes other dogs. Zoe adores being pet and will sit by your side for hours if you scratch her ears. Zoe is sensitive and well-behaved. She's pretty mellow for her breed and age, but she would appreciate a daily walk. Her last guardians moved and couldn't take her along.

This dog has been rated orange by our behavior evaluation system. This means that the dog is recommended for households with children who are twelve years old and older. This is only a recommendation. Your individual household and pet experience may influence your decision to adopt a dog that falls outside the recommended color code age range of the children in your household.
